I am Learning to Make Simple Inferences.

I am in Pascal group for reading and we have been learning to make simple inferences. An inference is when you know something even though it is not actually written in the story. You can make an inference by looking for clues in the story and illustrations.

My Reflection

It was quite fun to write about Mrs McFee. I found it easy because I have had lots of practice with my reading responses. I have made some inferences about the story like how Mrs McFee likes flowers. It doesn't say it in the story, but I know that she does because she wears flowery clothes and hats.

I am Learning to Count to 20 in Maori.

I am in Wha group for Maths. we have been learning how to count to 20 in Te Reo Maori. Most of us learned how to count to 10 in Year 1 so we focused on numbers 11-20.

My Reflection

I think that I am a bit good at counting to 20 in Maori. It is still a bit tricky sometimes, but I am still learning and practising.

I am Learning to add Detail to my Writing.

Room 8 has been learning how to add detail into our writing to make it more interesting. We can think about the questions: Who? What? Where? When? How? and Why? to help us add this detail.
We have recently started swimming again and chose this shared experience to write about.

On Friday Room 8 went swimming! It was fun. I liked it so much but, "John!" I said, he was following me. I went here, then he went here. I went there, then he went there, but I was also following Rohan. I followed Rohan because we were playing tag in the pool. I think we went swimming so we could chill out. Anyways, I was chilled out until John came... "Aaaaaaaahhhhhh!"

My Reflection

I think that I did a pretty good job of my writing because I added detail. I don't think it is too hard or too easy to add detail, it is in the middle. I think that the questions (who, what, when, where, how, why?) help to make it easier to add detail to my writing. I will try to add detail to my writing from now on to make it more interesting.

I am Learning to Draw Patterns.

Room 8 made flower headbands for the Term 4 Wearable Arts Show. We copied and created new patterns to put onto the different petals. We worked hard on our art and had a lot of fun making and displaying it.

I am Learning to Draw Patterns.

In Room 8, we have been working on a wearable arts project. We focused on drawing different patterns and transferred them onto foam 'petals'. Finally, we attached the petals to headbands to make a flower headpiece. We have worked really hard this term!

I am Learning to Find and Summarise Information in texts by Skimming and Scanning.

I am in Pascal group for reading. We have been learning about skimming and scanning texts in order to find information. If you need to find certain information, it is easier and faster to skim and scan the text instead of reading the whole story.

What was the problem?

They can't figure out which one is right, like one chose that it was going to be sunny and one chose rain and one chose cold.

What was the solution?

They fixed it by listening to the weather forecast.

My Reflection

I think that it is kind of hard because you go fast.

I think that it is good to skim and scan sometimes when you need to find bits of information from the reading.

When you go so fast sometimes I leave out the words. Usually we read with each other and we have to read all of it out loud.
